How can you convert glycerol into Acrolein?

When Glycerol treated with dehydrating agents like H2SO4, P2O5 or KHSO4 then it undergoes dehydration and remove all the water molecules to give unsaturated Aldehyde named Acrolein.

What is the product formed when glycerol react with Excess HI?

Reaction of glycerol with limited amount of warmed HI gives allyl iodide.
While in the presence of excess amount of HI, then allyl iodide reduced to propene, which further reacts with HI and forms isopropyle iodide.

What is Noble’s oil and how can obtained from glycerol/glycerine?

Nitroglycerine or glyceryl trinitrate is known as Noble’s oil because it is discovered by Alfred Noble and it is an explosive.

A mixture of glyceryl trinitrate and glyceryl dinitrate and Kieselguhr (a kind of porous Clay) is called dynamite

What are different products obtained when glycerol is heated with oxalic acid at different temperature?

(1) At 372 K to 383 K:
When glycerol is heated with oxalic acid at 373-383K (100–110°C) temperature formic acid is produced and here probably glycerol act as catalyst.
When glycerol is heated with oxalic acid at 373-383K (100–110°C) temperature formic acid is produced as one of the product along with regenerating glycerol.
The entire reaction proceed via formation of glycerol mono oxalate, decarboxylation and elimination of H2O.

(2) At 503 K to 553 K:
When glycerol is heated with oxalic acid at higher temperature nearly 503 K to 553K (230-280°C) oxalic acid and glycerol react with each other to produce an allyl alcohol which is also produced via decarboxylation and elimination of H2O.

What is the structure and use of Westron and Westrosol?

Westron (Tetrachloroethane) is a heavy in-flammable liquid (CHCl2CHCl2) and used as a solvent of rubber, varnish, paint and fats etc.

While Westrosol is Trichloroethene (CHCI=CCl2) and used in dry-washing of cloths.
